35mm camera suggestions please?

I'm taking a photography class in the fall. I need to supply my own 35mm camera. Any suggestions? I'm an avid photographer and I've been told I'm talented but I've only ever used a digital camera. It's a pretty basic photography course. What kind should I get? Not something really expensive please :P do you think I should buy one in advance and learn a little bit abou how to use it before the class? I plan to keep and use this camera for as long as I can after the class is over. Film interests me. Would you buy a camera from Amazon, eBay, or craigslist? Thanks so much in advance. :)
