Which is a better lens to use for firework photography?

Hi can anyone help me with my question? This coming 4th July will be my first time taking a firework photography, so is it okay to use a 50mm f1.8? I'm just starting out and Nikkor 50mm f1.8 and 18-105mm f3.5-5.6 are the only lenses I've got. I need a professional answer for this. many thanks!
