How would u convince ur parents to get u a DSLR?

I really love photography. I really fancy a canon 600d. I'm 16. But my dad is waiting for a canon 5D Mark IiI and suggests I share it with him. but he's the kind who always do the cheap talking and in the end I don't really get to use it. and I always fancied a DSLR and only mine.
