In cap and ball gun can i ways or mix powerful powder to make it have more of a punch?

i have a colt 1851 and thats fine with the black powder i all so have a naa cap ball 22 can i was 22lr powder to make my naa more powerful or can i just take the 22lr round and take the powder and mix it with the black powder 4 a little more of a punch could this be dunn i dont think it will hurt if i mix a little in or if i just ways it in the colt or naa black powder c&b companion and would the naa 22 cap ball be a good defence gun it wil do the job right thanks
